Hello Fellow Travelers!

Hello family, friends, and strangers who will hopefully soon become friends! Thanks for checking out my new blog, Living the Vacation Life. I’d like to start by answering a few questions I know you’re dying to hear the answers to:

Why am I starting a travel blog?

There are two things I’ve always loved – traveling and writing. So it finally occurred to me, why not put my expensive journalism degree to use and write about my travel experiences? I should have started a blog back when I first began traveling, but better late than never, right?

My husband Luis and I spend a lot of our time traveling – it’s been one of our favorite activities to do together since we first met each other. Lately it seems like by the time we’re taking a vacation, we’re already planning our next trip.

We’ve been talking a lot lately about how we can simplify our life in order to travel more and work less. This blog is my first step toward making that goal a reality.

What can you expect from this blog?Backpacking

First and foremost, I want to share fun stories and great pictures from all of my adventures. While doing so, I hope to offer some useful information to other people who are planning trips to similar locations, and to encourage those who want to move toward living a life full of vacation.

Even though I’ve traveled quite a bit, I still find myself looking up information about what to pack, where to eat, where to stay, etc. before each new trip. In sharing my own experiences, I hope to become a resource for other people who want to travel more.

Who should read this blog?

I hope my blog will be attractive to anyone who is interested in traveling! Whether they just want to live vicariously through my experiences or they want to quit their job and backpack around the world for a year – I hope to offer some inspiration.

Where will you be traveling?

Mardi Gras IndianMy next trip is this upcoming weekend (February 25th) when I’ll be heading to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras for the 4th time in my life! Beyond that, we’ve already planned a trip to the UK this spring and a Caribbean cruise in the fall, with many smaller trips surely to come in between.

I’ve also taken a lot of trips previously, so I plan on creating “A Look Back” series where I can share highlights, tips, and photos from each past adventure.

When will you be posting updates?

I will do my best to update this blog at least once per week – with more frequent updates leading up to and during vacations, and less frequent updates in between trips when I’m stuck in the real world.
